The Bigger Picture: Festival of Interdependence

Scott Ballum

Our friends across the Atlantic are staging a free interactive, living exhibition dedicated to bringing together artists, thinkers, and activists for a day of learning, making, celebrating and debating, about how we can start the Great Transition to a new economy:

There is a way the economy can work for people and planet. A way to create greater social justice and well-being and still protect the environment. But creating this new economy will require a huge shift in ideas and institutions.

The Bigger Picture Festival promises thirty-five speakers (on topics ranging from the future of food and farming, the hidden costs of economic growth, civil liberties and climate change, and local economics), skill-sharing workshops, art galleries, film screenings, and–our favorite–"Tales of where it turned out right".

The festival is organized by the new economics foundation, an independent think-and-do tank believing in "economics as if people and the planet mattered".
