Learn From Your Neighbors at Community-based Workshops in Brooklyn
The idea of skill sharing is one dear to our hearts, so we were excited to hear about this weekend's Brooklyn Skillshare at the Gowanus Studio Space.
As the project's mission states, "education is a right, not a commodity. We are all students and
teachers, and we believe that everyone has something to teach and to
learn from each other." A team of volunteers has been working since June to test their theory, and will see the first event of its kind in just a few days. With classes in everything from massage to kombucha making, and bike maintenance to burlesque, the free, community-focused event is seeking to be accessible, and interesting, to all.
Brooklyn Skillshare will be held on Saturday, October 10th at the Gowanus Studio Space (119 8th Street, Brooklyn btw 2nd & 3rd Avenues) from 10am – 6pm. Funding permitted, the organizers hope to continue putting on events throughout the year.
