James David Morgan

I am a co-founder of the Groundswell Collective, interested in the history and future of activist art, especially the relationship between art and social movements. My work, in both theory and art practice, examines how we can compose new social relations, and build care into movements while maintaining a culture that is antagonistic to capital. At various points this can mean creating artist-led infrastructures for social change, or finding ways to work collaboratively, both within and alongside movements. Groundswell is a loose affiliation of critical cultural producers who work at the intersection of art and activism. We produce, catalog, amplify, and provide analytical space for the overlapping work of artists and activists, while simultaneously participating in that field.  Find us online at GroundswellCollective.com

What is it that Groundswell does?  We're so happy to say that we don't yet know.
